Passports & Visas
Passport: Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry to Nepal. Check your passport and start the renewal process if your expiration date is prior to October 2026.
What is the process to obtain a tourist visa for Nepal travel?
A VISA is required to enter Nepal - and it’s quite easy now! Please refer to the Nepal government website: https://immigration.gov.np/en/page/tourist-visa. You will want the 15 day visa unless you plan to stay for 30 days or longer. On Arrival Visa Application https://nepaliport.immigration.gov.np/on-arrival/IO01.
After reviewing the Nepal visa sites, make sure you have everything required in your carry on luggage. You may need to bring exact change (cash), a passport copy, passport photo, etc. Be prepared.
Airport to Hotel Transfers
Will I get picked up at the airport and taken to the first hotel?
Yes! Hotel transportation is included. We will need your flight details 1 week prior to the departure to make the arrangements.
Finances
How can I get cash in Nepal? Where can I get cash?
You can get cash from an ATM at the airport and in Kathmandu and Pokhara. It's also possible to exchange $$ at the airport.
Travel Insurance
Should I buy travel insurance? What about travel medical insurance?
While not required, we strongly encourage you to obtain travel and medical insurance in the unlikely event of illness, injury, or unexpected changes. The organizers are not responsible for your medical care or expenses, but they will do everything they can should an illness or accident occur.
Attire
What is the appropriate attire for yoga classes and during the retreat?
Travel and activities: Comfortable, modest, loose-fitting clothing is best. Ideally, the clothes will cover the torso, shoulders/upper arms, and knees. Note: Since evening temperatures can be chilly, please bring something to keep you warm. But if you forget, there are plenty of shops to purchase items at very good prices.
Yoga classes/sadhana: If in a private space, please wear whatever feels comfortable,
Trekking: Wear long pants, shirts, jackets, and very sturdy and comfortable shoes (e.g. hiking shoes or trail running shoes)
Is it safe to drink tapwater in Nepal?
We highly recommend drinking only sealed bottled water during your entire stay in Nepal. Bottled water will be supplied during the retreat. And it is very inexpensive to purchase if you are on your own.
What happens if there is an unforeseen event?
Force Majeure (Unforeseen Events) In the event of circumstances beyond the organizers’ control—such as natural disasters, political unrest, pandemics, strikes, or other events commonly referred to as force majeure—the retreat organizers and teachers shall not be held liable for any delay, change, or cancellation of the retreat. While every reasonable effort will be made to reschedule or offer alternative arrangements, refunds may be limited to recoverable costs. (Force majeure means “greater force,” referring to extraordinary events that prevent fulfillment of the agreement despite best efforts.)
More questions? Before the retreat, we will host both in-person and virtual gatherings to make sure you are comfortable and get all of your questions answered.
